We have compiled some examples to demonstrate the types of tasks that you will be able to perform with ReliaSoft's Lambda Predict. Some of the many useful applications include the ability to:

  • Import external data from a Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Perform "what-if" analyses for comparison purposes. For example, you may wish to change one parameter (such as temperature, environment, etc.) to see what impact it will have on the predicted failure rate.
  • Use the Allocation utility to logically apportion the product design reliability into lower level design criteria such that the cumulative reliability still meets the requirements.
  • Analyze the effect of ambient temperature on a computer system and see how changing the derating values will affect the components.

For the actual case studies, the data and/or exact test method that were used may have been modified in cases where the actual information was deemed to be confidential.

Example 1:

Importing External Data from a Bill of Materials

Import data from a BOM as part of creating a prediction and specify the failure rate for an external component.

Create a system and change the temperature value of a block and change a system configuration from series to parallel (i.e., use redundancy).
